Day 1:  Upon your midday or early afternoon arrival into San Jose, Costa Rica you will be met and transferred approximately 3 and ½ hours to the Arenal Volcano, known for its frequent eruptions, dramatic lava flows and incandescent rock explosions. Arrive at the Tabacón Grand Spa & Thermal Resortfor overnight. Proudly awarded membership to The Leading Hotels of the World as of January 2007, the hotel is part of the Tabacon Hot Springs Resort located across the street. Featuring mineral pools and hot springs fed by the Arenal Volcano, the mineral waters flow through exotic tropical gardens, forming cascades and pools, and create an unforgettable experience. Day 2:  Arenal Reserve Tour: Sky Tram & Sky Trek Canopy Tour: Today you will have the opportunity to experience two adventure tours: Sky Tram, and Sky Trek.  Sky Tram is suitable for people of all ages.  On the Sky Tram, through the rainforest to the Miguel Angel Observatory, you will get a bird’s eye view of the volcano, lake, and Tilaran Mountain Range. The Sky tram leads you to a wide observation platform at the highest point of the Arenal Reserve, where you can observe the rain forest, the Arenal volcano and lake.  The Sky Trek is a tour of adventure above the treetops, which consists of a system of zip lines that allow you to observe the rainforest and its landscape from a different perspective. The tour includes 8 cross-sectional cables that together have a total length of 4.5 miles with distances from 100 to 2460 feet, and with a maximum height of 660 feet, providing a panoramic view of the Arenal volcano and lake. This zip system gives you the opportunity to enjoy the rainforest in a fun, easy, and safe manner.  After this adventure, you will have the remainder of the day free to relax in the hot springs or to explore the region.  Overnight Tabacon Grand Spa & Thermal Resort. 

Day 3:  Rio Balsa River Whitewater Rafting (Class II – III): Challenge yourself as you paddle through fun & safe rolling rapids with names like “Morning Coffee” and “Rock around the Croc”, then play around in the tranquil river pools in an isolated rainforest river canyon. Your professional, experienced bilingual guides will give you a safety talk and paddling instruction, lifejackets, helmets and then you’re off. There is the possibility of seeing lots of wildlife like monkeys, sloth, and tropical birds such as ospreys, oropendolas and toucans. Day 4:  This morning you will be met and transferred approximately 5 hours to the Northern Pacific Coast to arrive at Hotel Punta Islita, for overnight. Set in a secluded cove, Hotel Punta Islita offers an ideal blend of comfort and authenticity. Day 8:  This morning will be free to relax or to explore on your own.  Midday transfer to the local airport for a domestic flight back to San Jose.  Upon arrival you will be met and transferred to Hotel Grano de Oro for overnight. Situated on a shady street just off Paseo Colón, San José's main thoroughfare, Hotel Grano de Oro is a true oasis, a sanctuary in the heart of the city.  Converted from a Tropical Victorian mansion, the recently renovated 40-room hotel maintains the warmth and comfort of a private home.
