Day 2: Los Bajos Cultural Tour - Our hometown, Los Bajos del Toro Amarillo is a thriving rural community with rich traditions, unsurpassed landscapes and intriguing flora. This guided tour pays a visit to local orchidophile Don Martin Porras’ private garden. His collection features more than 400 orchid species from startling shoe-shaped specimens to tiny varieties of millimetric beauty. A magnifying glass is provided for a fun micro-safari. Followed by a visit to the local butterfly garden and a relaxing stop at the local women’s associations’ café for a hot cup of agua dulce (sweet raw sugar beverage) and local pastries. Day 3:  Bajos Del Toro Waterfall - Enjoy a natural masterpiece! A staggering 400 foot drop opens upon a board multicolored canyon where shades of red clay blend with green moss and dense vegetation. A winding trail takes you to the very bottom to enjoy exciting close-ups of the roaring mist. For daring souls, a rappel line provides an exhilarating shortcut - (Some additional cost applies). Volcano & Beach Getaway

Day 1:  Upon arrival in San Jose, Costa Rica you will transfer by ground approximately 4 hours to the Arenal Volcano, known for its frequent eruptions, dramatic lava flows and incandescent rock explosions. Day 3: Arenal Reserve Tour: Sky Tram & Sky Trek Canopy Tour: Today you will experience two adventure tours: Sky Tram and Sky Trek.  The Sky Tram is suitable for people of all ages.  On the Tram you will glide through the rainforest to the Miguel Angel Observatory.  The Tram ends at a wide platform which rests at the highest point in the Arenal Reserve.  During the tram and on the observation deck you will have a bird’s eye view of the volcano, lake, and Tilaran Mountain Range below.  The Sky Trek is a tour of adventure above the treetops consisting of a system of zip lines for the perfect adrenaline rush! Tropical Glimpse

Day 1: Upon arrival in San Jose, Costa Rica, you will transfer to the Hotel Grano de Oro for overnight. Situated on a shady street just off Paseo Colón, San José's main thoroughfare, Hotel Grano de Oro is a true oasis, a sanctuary in the heart of the city.  Converted from a Tropical Victorian mansion, the recently renovated 40-room hotel maintains the warmth and comfort of a private home. Guests delight in the tranquil ambience of tropical plants and flowers found throughout the hotel. Italian tile fountains grace intimate atriums, ensuring that one is never far from the soothing melody of falling water. Additionally a rooftop garden terrace offers relaxing Jacuzzis and a blissful, secluded spot for lounging, sunbathing and stargazing. Day 2:  This morning, you will transfer by ground approximately 4 hours (with a stop for breakfast) to the private dock for a scenic 2-hour boat ride to Tortuguero on the Northern Caribbean Coast. Arrive at the Mawamba Lodge, located on a sand bar between Tortuguero Lagoon and primitive beaches of the Caribbean, for overnight. Nestled in the lush rainforest, this is the ideal hideaway for nature lovers and the perfect place to discover the wonders of the Tortuguero National Park.

Guest accommodations consist of 54 comfortable rooms with private bathrooms, hot water, ceiling fans and chairs for a pleasant, relaxing evening. Look for beautiful shore birds, lizards, toucans, monkeys, caimans, and sloth. Day 4:  This morning transfer to the local airstrip for a short flight back to San Jose. Upon arrival, you will transfer approximately 4 hours to the Arenal Volcano.  Arrive at the Hotel Arenal Manoa, an ideal place for rest and relaxation at the Arenal Volcano. The hotel is close to many of the main attractions in the area yet maintains a silent tranquility. Visitors can take advantage of the spacious gardens for walking and meditation as well as see the daily operations of a typical Costa Rican farm. Day 5:   Free day to explore / hike around the volcano region, horseback ride to La Fortuna Waterfall, visit Tabacon Hot springs, float through Cano Negro reserve, explore Venado caves, or take a mountain bike tour. For those who want to get to know something new and different the farm offers the opportunity to see ornamental plants and observe the process of milking cows. Day 6:  This morning, you will transfer by ground approximately 5 hours to Tamarindo  on the Northern Pacific Coast. Arrive at the Tamarindo Diria Beach & Golf Resort for overnight. Surrounded by exotic and beautifully maintained lush tropical gardens, you will sense the natural beauty Costa Rica has to offer. Day 2: Colorado River Whitewater Rafting & Adventure Rappel (Class II – III): Beautiful canyons, curious wildlife, exuberant vegetation, and pristine water are what you will find as you raft for 2 hours down the class II - III rapids of the Colorado River. Upon arrival at the put-in point, you will receive safety instructions and then board a 2-person raft. Day 3: Rincón de la Vieja National Park Guided Hike: Hiking through Rincon de la Vieja National Park is a great experience for the entire family. This is one of the best places in the country for hiking. The trails bring you close to residual volcanic activity such as boiling mud pools, and fumaroles. You will have the opportunity to explore craters and see the sulfur springs and steam vents that are abundant at Las Pilas. Enjoy a wide variety of wildlife and exotic flora. Day 4:  Barra Honda Caves Tour – Hike in the Barra Honda National Park, where the biggest attraction is an intricately large system of limestone caverns that house a multitude of capricious forms and figures.  It mainly consists of coral reef that is over 60 million years old. Tectonic faulting uplifted the area from the surrounding seabed 70 million years ago and the ensuing rains created underground waterways. The constant dripping of rainwater on calcium carbonate created these underground art galleries. The caves range from a few feet to over 780 feet deep. The network of hiking trails used to access the caverns are great for exploring one of the rarest habitats on earth, tropical dry forest. Nature, Culture & Canopy

Day 1:  Upon your afternoon arrival in San Jose, Costa Rica, you will transfer by ground approximately 1 ½ hours to the Los Angeles Cloud Forest near San Ramon. This high-elevation forest, literally in the clouds, is a misty dreamlike setting that is great for hiking and wildlife observation. Arrive at the Hotel Villa Blanca for overnight located on a 75-acre Private Biological Reserve.  The hotel offers distinctive and unique accommodations with amenities not commonly found in a Cloud Forest region including 35 Casitas with fireplaces, each with breathtaking views of pristine tropical cloud forest, upscale restaurant, lobby with fireplace, bar lounge, terrace deck, library / game room, private movie theater, Serenity Spa facilities and Regalame II Gift Shop and Art Gallery.  The remainder of the day is free to explore this unique environment or to simply sit back and relax. 

Day 2: Combination San Ramon Cultural & Coffee Plantation Tour: Villa Blanca guides who grew up in the local community host this unique half-day tour.  We will begin with an educational visit to the picturesque capital of San Ramon. San Ramon is known as the “city of poets” and birthplace of three previous presidents.  We will visit a photo gallery in honor of Costa Rica’s most famous San Ramon born President Don Pepe Figueres, famous for abolishing the military and establishing the current democracy.   Next, we will stop by the Church of San Ramon and the Central Market.  Finally, we will tour the 640-acre Espiritu Santo Coffee Plantation where we will learn the rich tradition of coffee throughout Costa Rican history and today.  Remainder of the day is free.  Overnight Hotel Villa Blanca.

Day 3:  Canopy Tour ~ Come see life from above while walking in the clouds.  Today you will experience the ultimate cloud forest adventure with 9 platforms and 6 zip-lines, which range from 30 to 260 meters long.  During the tour, you will see the cloud forest’s exuberant flora and fauna in high elevation and often-unseen habitat.   A great number of species will be present and with some careful observation, you may be able to spot creatures native to the treetops.  Remainder of the day is free.  Overnight Hotel Villa Blanca.

Day 4:  This morning, you will transfer by ground approximately 4 hours to the Manuel Antonio / Quepos area on the Central Pacific coast at Hotel Si Como No for overnight. Follow a professional naturalist guide for a moderate walk through the park. Keep your eyes and ears open to soak in the wonders of this tropical rainforest and its natural history. The animal life is diverse, with some 109 known species of mammals and 184 species of birds.  Expect to spot two or three species of monkeys, sloth, white-nosed coatimundis, agoutis, colorful butterflies, iguanas and various birds. Day 6 – 7: Free days to take the complimentary shuttle down to the beach or plan day trips. While your guides prepare you a hearty picnic lunch on the riverbank, you'll be led through the jungle to an enchanting waterfall and pool to swim.  Before you know it, you'll arrive at the award-winning Ríos Tropicales Lodge where you can spend the afternoon relaxing, hiking or soaking in the waterfalls and pools. A Trip To Remember

Day 1: Upon arrival in San Jose, Costa Rica, you will transfer to the Hotel Grano de Oro for overnight. Day 5:  This morning, you will meet with a bilingual guide and transfer by ground approximately 5 – 6 hours to the Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica at Peninsula Papagayo, for overnight. Day 1: Upon arrival in San Jose, Costa Rica, you will transfer to the Finca Rosa Blanca Coffee Plantation and Inn in Heredia for overnight. Nestled in 10 acres amid hundreds of fruit trees and dramatic tropical flora, the enchanting inn is a jewel crowning a picturesque knoll. Experience coffee through the ages; learn how it was discovered, traded and consumed, then learn the entire process of cultivation and harvest. (In the Harvest season, Oct – Jan, you can participate in the picking of coffee as well). Then, you will experience the processing of coffee, including cleaning and drying the berries, before roasting your own coffee in our roasting and packinghouse. Learn how the experts discern and rate gourmet coffee by participating in a “coffee cupping” (catación) session with our knowledgeable Barista and Coffee Tour Guide. Finish up with a walk to our famous coffee bar where you will learn to make a cappuccino, café latte and espresso coffee. Day 3: Free day to explore the area or plan day a day excursion. Day 4: This morning, you will transfer to the domestic airport in San Jose for the short scenic flight to Puerto Jimenez on the Osa Peninsula. Upon arrival, you will transfer approximately 45 minutes to Lapa Rios Rain Forest Lodge. Set in a private nature reserve spread over 1,000 acres of Central America's last remaining lowland tropical rainforest in Costa Rica, Lapa Rios overlooks the pristine point where the Golfo Dulce meets the wild Pacific Ocean, making it the destination that matches every one's idea of paradise. This is an upscale wilderness resort offering romantic bungalow accommodations with ocean view verandas and outdoor showers. Furthermore, guests can take massages, participate in Yoga classes, relax at the pool with a tropical cocktail or just take a nap in a hammock and maybe observe the birds, monkeys and other animals that come by. RIU Family Journey

Day 1: Upon arrival into Liberia, Costa Rica you will be met and transferred 1 hour to the All-Inclusive RIU Guanacaste for overnight.  This new deluxe 701 room all-inclusive resort is located on beautiful Playa Matapalo, just a short drive away from the Liberia International Airport.  The Guanacaste area is a place where one can enjoy the endless possibilities offered by the privileged surroundings such as water activities on the beautiful beaches, diving or fishing in the waters of the Pacific and eco-tourism in the natural parks.
