OVERVIEW

In blue-green ocean waters and in the depths of virgin rainforest, those who choose our 7 night Show Me The Wildlife vacation package will see their fill of animals! Costa Rica is renowned for the variety of its wildlife, and doubtless, every visitor has a favorite. Explore the mangroves at Golfo Dulce, kayak in the 80-degree waters, and then off to Corcovado National Park, where a full day hike will introduce a visitor to the beauty of the jungle – with a helpful sharp-eyed guide to help point out the wildlife!

DAILY ITINERARY

Day 1
Arrive San Jose, Costa Rica
Upon arrival in San Jose, Costa Rica, you will transfer to Hotel Grano de Oro for overnight. This Victorian mansion lies at the heart of the city, and has a lovely rooftop garden terrace. Be sure to grab a meal at the hotel restaurant, Restaurant Grano de Oro, one of the best fine dining establishments in the city.
Day 2
Transfer to Golfo Dulce, Osa Peninsula
This morning transfer to the domestic airport in San Jose for the short flight to Puerto Jimenez on the remote Osa Peninsula. Upon arrival transfer by ground and boat to the Playa Nicuesa Rainforest Lodge for overnight. Playa Nicuesa backs up to the Piedras Blancas National Park on the Gulfo Dulce. The dense Jurassic rainforest and calm waters of the gulf attract a multitude of nature and wildlife.
Day 3
Golfo Dulce Free Day
Be sure to check out the lodge's list of activities and schedule your favorites once you arrive at the lodge. There is an extensive trail system surrounding the lodge through Piedras Blancas National Park. Hike around or walk the stretch of coastline on the beach. Overnight Playa Nicuesa Lodge.
Day 4
Golfo Dulce Free Day

Day 5
Transfer to Drake Bay, Osa Peninsula
Today you will be transferred by boat and then approximately 2 hours by ground to Drake Bay on the opposite side of the Osa Peninsula. Arrive at Aguila de Osa Inn for overnight. This unique tropical paradise is located high above the water's edge between the rainforest and the Pacific Ocean. Open, spacious rooms with mesh windows allow the tropical breeze to pass through your room.
Day 6
Corcovado National Park Tour
This morning take a boat ride to the entrance of Corcovado National Park, which protects over 100,000 acres and many of the country’s endangered species. Your guide will lead you through the dense jungle. You'll get to see monkeys, sloths, an abundance of tropical birds, and many other types of wildlife. Have a refreshing swim in a waterfall before the return to Aguila de Osa Inn for overnight.
Day 7
Snorkeling Tour of Caño Island Biological Reserve
This island is a popular place for snorkeling or scuba diving, thanks to the presence of big fish like bull and white tip sharks. Seasonally, humpback whales pass through the area and massive manta rays can be spotted. Certified divers can substitute a full day Scuba diving tour at additional cost. OVernight Aguila de Osa Inn.
Day 8
Depart San Jose, Costa Rica
Today you will transfer the domestic airport in Drake Bay for a short flight to San Jose to connect with your international departure.

All itineraries are land only and international airfare is quoted separately. Itinerary adjustments may be necessary depending on your international flight schedule. For example a late arrival will usually require a night near the airport in San Jose.
