Kids Love Costa Rica
Day 1: Upon arrival in San Jose, Costa Rica, you will pick up a 4 X 4 rental vehicle and drive approximately 1 hour to the Peace Lodge at La Paz Waterfall Gardens for overnight. The lodge is located on the grounds of the private nature reserve offering incredible waterfalls, lush gardens, butterfly observatory, and hummingbird feeders all connected by a unique trail system. Peace Lodge encompasses the rustic past and natural beauty of the rainforest and the essence of Costa Rica. The deluxe hotel rooms are 800 square feet with an unbelievable garden bathroom designed for the true nature lover. A seven-foot waterfall comes to life as you are soaking in the Jacuzzi tub in the garden. There is also a garden shower and indoor shower. All of this is surrounded by beautiful indoor landscaping and illuminated by a skylight. The room also has a Jacuzzi tub and hammock on the balcony for those picture perfect star gazing nights. A grand gas fireplace to view from the king size canopy bed completes the room. There is also satellite TV, stereo system, refrigerator, and coffee maker.
Day 2: Free day to explore La Paz Waterfall Gardens. All guests are welcome to enjoy the park before it opens and after it closes the optimal bird and wildlife viewing times. Optional guided tours are available at extra cost including private hike through La Paz, Poas Volcano, Doka Coffee Plantation, river-rafting for beginners, a boat cruise on the Sarapiqui, horseback tours, and the Center for Neotropical Studies. Day 3: Today, you will drive approximately 2 – 3 hours to the Arenal Volcano. Arenal is a tall, symmetrical, cone shaped volcano which dominates the landscape. Although the volcano is currently in a resting phase, the region offers an abundance of exciting opportunities. Arrive at The Springs Resort & Spa for overnight. With amazing views of the Arenal Volcano, natural hot & cold springs 4 unique dining experiences and an impressive full service Spa, The Springs promises to overwhelm you with the highest quality of service and design. The resort perches 1000 feet above the Arenal Valley on a mountain ridge just 6 kilometers north of the volcano! Day 4: Guided Arenal Hanging Bridges Walk: Located within a corridor followed by birds migrating between North and South America, these trails and miraculous hanging bridges will bring you closer than you could imagine to an array of wild animals, birds, flowers and lush vegetation of the primary and secondary rainforest. Day 5: Today, you will drive about 5 hours to the JW Marriott Guanacaste Resort & Spa for overnight. Day 6: Canopy Tour: You will begin with a short journey through several small villages. These settlements will give you the chance to combine adventure with culture as you arrive at the site where the canopy experience begins. Using special safety equipment, you will travel through the treetops and riverbanks, between platforms set high above the ground. At each platform, you will be able to stop rest and take in the gallery that this dry forest offers. Day 7: Free Day to explore the property or relax by the free flowing pool and beach.
