Morgan’s Rock Hacienda & Ecolodge
Morgan's Rock Hacienda & Ecolodge is located near San Juan del Sur, south of the Colonial City of Granada and Nicaragua's capital Managua. Morgan’s Rock is part of a 1,000-hectare reforestation project and 800-hectare private nature reserve that represent among the last large natural sanctuaries along the Pacific Coast of Central America. The region is a critical conservation habitat for the animal population in Morgan’s Rock. Most bungalows sit on a cliff overlooking the private bay and estuary, perfect for viewing the sunset disappear into the Pacific Ocean. Some may have a tree growing out through the roof but all enjoy an indoor beach garden hosting your own private outdoor shower. All hotel bungalows feature one king size bed, a comfortable sofa bed and a private deck. The architect has used mainly local materials and the wooden furniture was custom made by local artisans. There are a variety of nature tours exploring the Hacienda’s different ecosystems such as hardwood plantations, pastures, Lake Nicaragua, the Pacific Ocean, and agro tourism based tours where you can learn about reforestation, life in a hacienda or a traditional sugar mill. A day trip to nearby colonial Granada, active volcanoes and artisan villages is recommended. Other activities include sunrise estuary kayaking, riverbed nature walks, fishing for lobster and horseback riding.
